Can You Microwave a Toaster Strudel? Yes, Here’s How!

Toaster strudels are a delicious breakfast treat! It’s the icing on top that really does it for me.

The instructions recommend cooking them in a toaster oven, but what if you don’t have one? Can you microwave a toaster strudel? Unless you have a microwave crisper, I don’t recommend using a microwave to heat a toaster strudel unless it’s the only option.

What is a Toaster Strudel?

A Toaster Strudel is a convenient frozen pastry treat made with sweet filling, creamy icing, and flaky crust. It’s an easy breakfast option that can be heated up in minutes in your toaster. The most popular flavor is strawberry, but there are many other varieties available such as cream cheese and raspberry. You can find Toaster Strudels at most grocery stores or online.

How to Microwave a Toaster Strudel

You can microwave Toaster Strudels in just a few easy steps! I personally use a microwave crisper because they will turn out better, but a microwave safe plate will do.

  1. Take the Toaster Strudel out of the freezer and place it on a microwave-safe plate. Place a paper towel under the strudel to absorb any excess moisture.
  2. Set the microwave to medium-high.
  3. Heat for 30 seconds on one side,
  4. Turn the strudel over and heat an additional 30 seconds.
  5. At this point, I take a fork and poke a hole in the center and check the temperature of the center filling. If it’s still cold, heat both sides an additional 10 seconds each.
  6. Recheck the center.
  7. When it’s hot enough and cooked, add your icing!
  8. Enjoy your freshly microwaved Toaster Strudel!

The only thing I don’t like about microwaving a toaster strudel is it isn’t crispy enough. It turns out too soft and flimsy for my taste. The microwave crisper will help with this!

Alternate Ways to Heat a Toaster Strudel Besides a Toaster

If you’re looking for an alternative to cooking your Toaster Strudel in a toaster and you don’t want to use the microwave, there are several ways you can cook it.

Conventional Oven

The first way is to bake the Toaster Strudel in the oven. Preheat your oven to 375°F and place the Toaster Strudel on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or aluminum foil. Bake for 12-15 minutes, flipping over halfway, until golden brown.

Skillet

Another option is to cook the Toaster Strudel in a skillet or pan on the stovetop. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and place the Toaster Strudel in the skillet. Cook for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown and heated through.

Can You Eat Toaster Strudels Raw?

Yes, you CAN eat a toaster strudel raw. They are technically not raw, they are precooked and then frozen. When you prepare them, you are only heating them up, so you can enjoy a hot breakfast! They won’t taste nearly as good cold as they do heated, but it’s perfectly fine.

If you do want to eat a toaster strudel cold, make sure to thaw it out in the refrigerator the night before. Don’t let it sit on the counter and let it get too warm before consuming. The USDA recommends not consuming foods that have sat at room temperature for more than 2 hours.
