Can You Microwave a Chipotle Bowl?
Yes! You can microwave a chipotle bowl to heat it up as long as you transfer the food to a microwave safe dish or container.
Do NOT microwave the container the chipotle bowl originally comes in. Chipotle bowls are put in seemingly safe compostable fiber bowls. According to thecounter.org, fiber bowls contain the toxic material PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) that prevents the bowl from breaking down quickly and adding additional toxic chemicals to the soil. If you put the bowl in the microwave and it’s exposed to heated, these chemicals will leech into your food.
So, how do you safely microwave a Chipotle bowl?
In order to safely microwave a leftover chipotle bowl, keep the below tips in mind.
First, transfer the contents of the chipotle bowl to a microwave-safe container. If you have glass of Pyrex, these work very well.
Second, remove the below ingredients from the bowl.
